Abigail was excited to participate in the 1st grade devotional at school. She loved dressing up like a pioneer, sang out with all her heart, and did a great job delivering her line: "It was a sad time for the Saints. Angry men put Joseph Smith in jail again. On a hot day in June 1844, a mob of angry men came to the jail in Carthage, Illinois and killed Joseph and his brother, Hyrum. The Saints were very sad that their prophet was dead, but Joseph's testimony will forever live in our hearts."
